Most IT internships are a folding chair, a stack of laptops to image, and a lot of "let us know if you need anything." That's not what this is.

Recon Managed Services is looking for an IT Support Intern who wants to actually learn the trade. You'll sit with our service desk, work real tickets alongside our Tier 1 technicians, and see how a managed services provider runs from the inside. You'll get exposure to the tools professionals actually use: ticketing systems, remote monitoring, Microsoft 365 administration, networking gear, and the day-to-day rhythm of supporting clients who depend on their technology working.

You don't need experience. You need curiosity, a decent grasp of how computers work, and a real interest in helping people. We'll handle the rest.

Here's what matters most to us: our clients like calling us. That's unusual in IT, and it's the whole point of this company. As an intern, you'll learn the technical side, sure. But you'll also learn what it looks like to treat people well when they're stressed and something is broken. That skill will follow you for your entire career, no matter where you end up.

If you're studying IT, thinking about it, or just the person your family calls when the Wi-Fi goes out, we'd love to hear from you.

What you will do

Learning the Client Experience

  • Shadow our technicians on calls and remote sessions to see how real support conversations go
  • Practice explaining technical things in plain language
  • Help keep clients updated on ticket status under a technician's guidance
  • Learn our Client Communication playbook and why we do things the way we do

Hands-On Technical Work

  • Work assigned tickets with supervision, starting simple and growing from there
  • Help with password resets, account setups, and basic user requests
  • Assist with endpoint deployment, imaging, patching, and hardware setup
  • Support asset inventory and documentation projects
  • Troubleshoot common Windows, Microsoft 365, printer, and peripheral issues
  • Get exposure to network basics: connectivity checks, Wi-Fi, and switch and access point verification
  • Help build and improve our knowledge base articles
  • Join a technician on client site visits when the schedule allows

Growing

  • Meet regularly with your mentor to talk through what you're learning and what you want to learn next
  • Work toward a certification if that's a goal of yours. We'll point you at the right resources
  • Ask questions. Constantly. That's the job

What we are looking for

A few things are non-negotiable because of the clients we serve:

  • A clear criminal background investigation, plus any additional client screening such as fingerprinting and security awareness certification
  • At least 18 years of age

Beyond that, here's what a strong fit looks like:

  • Basic comfort with computers and a genuine interest in how technology works
  • You like helping people and you're patient with folks who aren't technical
  • You communicate clearly in writing and in person
  • You show up when you say you will and follow through on what you're given
  • You're honest about what you don't know
  • Reliable transportation to our Beaumont office
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a high school, technical school, or college program, or otherwise able to demonstrate serious interest in an IT career

Nice to have

None of these are required. If you've got some, great. If not, apply anyway.

  • Coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
  • A home lab, personal projects, or tinkering you can tell us about
  • Any customer-facing work experience, including retail, food service, or hospitality. It counts more than you'd think
  • Familiarity with Windows, Microsoft 365, or basic networking concepts
  • Progress toward or completion of CompTIA A+ or a Microsoft Fundamentals certification
  • Availability to continue part-time during the school year
